Hello everyone, I finally took some time to write another blog post, I know it’s been a while since I’ve written one! The date is currently 11/4/2026, and a lot has happened since I last posted!
Work Updates
I’ve now been working with the World Student Christian Federation (WSCF) for nine weeks now, which is pretty crazy to think about. It also means I’ve been in NYC for nearly two and a half months! But I’ve been getting a lot of good work done! Currently, we’re working on our annual appeal where we thank all of our donors and show the work we’ve been doing as an organization over the past year. I’ve been emailing printing services around the city to get quotes on printing envelopes and letters, and then my boss and I are going to help send them out to donors across the country.
I’ve also been prepping for a big conference that the WSCF is planning to hold next April in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, with the theme of “Reimagining Amidst Empire: Prophetic Rupture”. The conference is covering our yearly theme of reimagining how we as Christian students can live and work in a time where we are shadowed by large empires, and how the church can speak up about long term injustices. The work I’ve been doing to prep for the conference include finding a list of speakers that might be interested in talking at the conference, along with reimagining the WSCF’s YouTube channel as a series of shorts we’re releasing on the WSCF Instagram account. It should help get word out about the event!
Overall, I feel like I’ve done a good job completing the work I’ve been given, and I’m looking forward to doing more. Here are some links to WSCF materials, and a flyer for the conference next year.

Other Life Updates
I think I have even more to talk about here than with the work updates, because I try to keep pretty busy with my free time. I’ve been more active about trying to join local groups, and it’s been going quite well! I think the star of the show right now is the NYC public library system. They have connected events all throughout Manhattan, and a huge volume of books available to anyone with a library card. So on top of reading a lot, I can go to free groups about topics that interest me.
First, I’ve been going to a quiet reading group in the library nearest my apartment (George Bruce Library). The meetings consist of community members coming in and talking about books they’ve read recently, which is pretty simple, but allows for very diverse and fun conversations. For example, one member gets to read and talk about his thoughts on Dante’s The Divine Comedy where another can share memoirs of people healing from drug abuse in their life. I get to meet some super fun and nice people from the area I live while also just getting to talk about interesting subjects.
Another group I think I’m going to start attending regularly is a anime/ manga club that happens in Stavros Niarchos library in lower Manhattan. I’ve only been once so far, but the people there are fun and interesting. I get the chance to see what their interests are while also sharing my own!
Outside of the library, I’m also a part time member in the queer advocacy group that happens at the First Presbyterian Church of NYC, a group that helps queer people in the church communicate and get more involved with the faith. Right now I’ve just been to the dinners and brunches they’ve offered to meet and chat with people, but I’m excited for when we get to do more scheduled events like an annual table at the NYC Pride Parade where we hand out water to paraders.
Other than that, I’ve still been regularly attending the cribbage group that happens at my apartment complex, getting a chance to see a small but constant group every few weeks is very nice.
I could also talk about the weather, and what it’s like to live in NYC in the fall. One word for it is Beautiful. It is constantly so pretty here with all the leaves changing colors. I really enjoy just getting to be outside, and try to do it a lot even with it getting darker earlier.
I think that’s all I’m going to update for now. Hopefully I won’t take as long a break this time, and I’ll have more fun thoughts to share. Overall, I’ve been having lots of fun and am trying to make the best of this opportunity. I’ll be back, and have a great day 🙂
